Music Theatre and Inclusive Communities

Project: Research

Project Details

This project aims to create new knowledge about the potential of opera and music theatre to enhance social cohesion at times of increasing community division. Taking the work of the Komische Oper Berlin as a central model, this innovative project aims to use a combination of artistic, policy and management analysis to establish the factors that allow performing arts companies to create consistently inclusive, community-focused, socially transformative work, internationally praised for artistic excellence. It aims to use this new knowledge to create a set of internationally informed, practical, evidence-based initiatives for creating inclusive, socially transformative art open to performing arts companies in Australia and internationally.
