Description

Dementia is a broad category of brain diseases that cause personality, behaviour, language, or/and other cognitive impairment resulting in institutional care and ultimately leading to death. Indeed, dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia and there is no cure. The total direct health and aged care system expenditure on people with dementia was at least $4.9 billion per year in Australia from 2010 and these costs alone will be around 1% of Australian GDP within two decades.
