NUCLEAR IN THE NEM: A SCOPING STUDY TO ESTABLISH THE FEASIBIITY OF INTEGRATING NUCLEAR ENERGY IN THE NATIONAL ELECTRICITY MARKET

This study will contribute significantly to an understanding of the role of low carbon, non-hydrocarbon power in the NEM alongside renewable energy. To date the regulation of the NEM focuses upon the market operation and its regulatory organs, however as renewable energy is increasingly integrated into the NEM, there has not been the concurrent integration of low-carbon baseload power, instead focussing on energy storage. This research will therefore analyse the role of low carbon energy in the NEM.
