Project Details
Description
Translated editions of Australian literature are very hard to track, particularly from non-European and smaller language markets. There is no single location where this information is stored. AustLit indexes translated editions of Australian literature where it can, including via rights sales. ALIA Multicultural has also been gathering this information intermittently but these comprise significantly less data and, unlike AustLit records, do not integrate the translation into the entire publication record of the work. This project aims to bring these two datasets together to produce a single integrated approach to the collection of information about translations of Australian literature. Future plans include applying for Cat 1 funding to undertake a large-scale national project on translated editions to open up new avenues and approaches to research.
