Project Details
Description
This project aims to develop a cross-disciplinary theoretical framework for analysing the creative innovations of selected historical women filmmakers. Generating understanding of the creative cognitions and embodied expertise of these filmmakers is significant to correcting the erasure of women in film history and theory. Research undertaken in archives and with scholars at Yale University and University of Wisconsin will ground the study in original documents and internationally significant cross-disciplinary ideas. The expected outcomes of: theorising women filmmakers; developing a cognitive/creative practice framework; and developing prestigious international collaborations; all inform the planned ARC grant application.
