Retinal RXR receptors in glaucoma

An investigation of RXR retinal receptors in the retina and whether they can be modified by administering an endogenous RXR ligand that may provide neuroprotection in glaucoma. Our pilot data demonstrated the downregulation of these receptors in both experimental glaucopma and in human eyes. This study will examine whether the application of an endogenous agonist will help protect the retinal neurons from glaucoma induced stress in our mouse models.
