Description

Concerns about fossil fuel depletion and rising carbon emissions have brought about a growing demand for sustainable transformation of carbon dioxide (CO2) into ethylene - a valuable industrial chemical. The project will introduce a new concept of cascade catalysis using multifunctional hybrid electrode materials for the fossil-free synthesis of ethylene from CO2. Compared to the conventional process this creative approach is expected to achieve unprecedented selectivity to ethylene. The ultimate aim is to integrate the resulting durable catalyst into a scalable continuous-flow reactor powered by solar energy. The technology will not only reduce the environmental impact of CO2 but also provide a sustainable feedstock for platform chemicals
