Project Details
Description
The aim of this request is to start the telescope design work for SkyHopper astronomy space mission, which is the main objective of a LIEF2020 funding request and a flagship project of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Space Instrumentation and Communications submission.
The applications of the SkyHopper concept, which is an infrared camera on a nano-class satellite, has applications beyond astronomy, including climate monitoring, resource management/discovery and defense applications.
To ensure the SkyHopper concept remains at the curring-edge of technology, the consortium is funding design work in 2019 in anticipation of and to support a strong LIEF2020 bid to fund the full $7M mission.
DVCR funds are requested to start the SkyHopper telescope design work at Australian Astronomical Optics Macquarie (AAO-MQ) in 2019.
