SOLSTIS – a versatile laser for creating new colours and exploring novel nanoparticles

Harnessing delicate quantum effects in optically active nanoparticles and solids requires dedicated specialized laser sources that are ultra-stable, ultra-precise and widely tuneable in colour. This MQRIS(small) requests such a laser system in order to address different quantum systems ranging from atoms, to nanoparticles, to photons and even quantum packets of vibrations. The requested laser system will therefore enhance the productivity of the whole research team by enabling high-impact publications, new funding possibilities, and possibly new patents, in particular on novel sensor technologies that can be translated with existing industrial partners.
