The aim of this project is to develop multifunctional single site catalysts and collaborate surface sites to complete multi-step reactions from carbon dioxide (CO2) hydrogenation to higher alcohols production. CO2, a greenhouse gas, is an abundant and renewable carbon source. Catalytic conversion of CO2 provides a sustainable solution for carbon neutral future. The outcome will advance the knowledge in rational design of new catalysts for CO2 conversion and understanding the catalyst structure-property induced reaction mechanism. This project will remarkably benifit CO2 conversion into value-added chemicals and fuels, such as ethanol and higher alcohols, and enhance the sustainability of chemical industry
