Taksim: Our Records, Our Selves

Taksim: Our Records, Our Selves, is a creative research project to be produced as a graphic novel, which combines elements of autoethnography, ethnography, oral history and graphic memoir. It aims to tell life narratives of migrant communities from the Balkans and the Middle East through an engagement with their music collections (records, cassettes and CDs) as parts of their material culture. The purpose of talking through their personal archives of music on physical media is to bring to the fore affective experiences of migrants regarding identity, belonging and estrangement.
