Project Details
Description
Socio-ecological study helps to understand the insight of vulnerabilities and adaptive capacities in response to climate change. This study aims to compile and manage the knowledge of appropriate geosocial management for Nakhonchaisri pomelo GI cultivation, analyze how the pomelo farmers adapt to the environmental and socio-economic changes, and co-formulate various scenarios and co-produce the process of integrated and practical resilience plan formation. Research collaboration among the local community leaders, MU and MQ researchers with sharing and learning the theoretical and practical knowledge management can enhance the capability on urban planning and nature-based solutions to cope with flood-drought-salinity intrusion.
Layman's description
This cross disciplinary study draws on community and expert knowledge to determine where and how the future farming of the citrus crop, pomelo, can be resilient to climate change. The project is based on an agricultural area close to Bangkok that has already transitioned from rice to more commercial crops due to climate and economic impacts. It responds to supporting resilient, safe and sustainable communities in the context of exogenic changes.
