    Description

    The Department of Indigenous Studies, Macquarie University (MU) will work in consultation with the Healing Foundation to execute a scoping study – research investigating and evaluating the social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who also identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex or Asexual, or otherwise diverse in terms of gender, sex or sexuality (LGBTQIA+) and who are members of the Stolen Generations or their descendants. The study will include a review of existing literature relevant to this community, a needs analysis conducted via survey, and evaluation and findings presented as a report for distribution by the Healing Foundation. This study will reveal principles of best practice, emerging evidence and recommendations relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+ social and emotional wellbeing including Stolen Generation experiences, and experiences of intergenerational trauma.
