Description

This research project, titled “The Lived Experience of Early Career Researchers in Australian Philosophy”, aims to investigate and document the experiences of early career researchers (ECRs) in Australian Philosophy. The project will involve a comprehensive survey of Higher Degree Researchers (HDRs) and ECRs across Australia, covering various aspects related to their experiences within the field.
The project is being jointly led by Dr Thomas A Corbin (MQ, Philosophy) and Dr Marilyn Stendera (UoW, Philosophy). The primary objective of this research project is to provide an account of what the Australian Philosophy ECR community looks like. By conducting a large-scale survey and analysis, we aim to contribute to the field of research by identifying the challenges, opportunities, and unique experiences faced by ECRs in this specific context. The survey of HDR students is necessary to ensure an accurate picture of what ECR life looks like to those hoping to continue into an ECR role, and is also necessary to provide a more detailed picture of how ECR’s can be supported from as early and most effectively as possible.
