Project Details
Description
The purpose of this study is to create a virtual reality (VR) training software programme to facilitate the acquisition of National Assessment Program–Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) related numeracy skills for 7 – 8-year-olds (year 3). The proposed study would consist of three phases. Phase one would constitute the development of the software prototype. Phase Two would consist of piloting and testing the effect of the software on learners’ NAPLAN numeracy acquisition utilising a quasi-experimental design. Phase Three would constitute the application of an external ARC Linkage grant to fully fund the
development of the software into a completed marketable training tool. The current grant application concerns Phase One only; the development of a small prototype.

Layman's description
We will transform 2D NAPLAN numeracy items into a 3D VR format and see if this format has potential as an assessment, and potentially, a training tool.
