Understanding health consumers’ needs during climate events

This qualitative study explores the challenges the affected community faced while managing a health condition during natural disasters in Australia, such as floods and bushfires. Their responses to these challenges and the innovative type of responses will be examined further. Learning from the lived experience of affected people who were managing a health condition (as a patient or a carer) during disasters can provide insight into what the potential needs for disaster preparedness are and how they can be addressed.

Aims and objectives:
• What was healthcare consumers' lived experience of managing a health condition during climate-related events?
• How are participants now prepared for the next crisis?/What lessons were learnt?
• Which of the health-related problems are suitable for digital support?
