Description
Utilizing a life-course (Elder, 1998), intersectional (Crenshaw, 1989), and a place-based approach, our project aims to advance women’s equality and equity nationwide through a robust mixed-methods and iterative research methodology. Our overall research question is We will address the five strategy areas: gender-based violence, unpaid and paid care, economic equality and security, health, and leadership, representation, and decision-making. Our research will explore perceptions of gender discrimination and cultural attitudes, women’s safety, reasonable accommodation, housing, and food security, particularly in the context of climate change, digital access, and inclusion. These are critical issues intersecting various research groups. We will investigate how these issues relate to women’s life courses, identities, and backgrounds. Our intersectional approach acknowledges the diversity and complexity of women’s experiences, recognizing that gender binaries are problematic. While this grant focuses on ‘women,’ our work will also support individuals outside the gender binary. Additionally, we will examine men’s perspectives on women’s equality.
