Abstract
Modern teaching approaches contribute directly to the development of the soft skills of both students at school and students at university in order to be better prepared to face modern challenges and high demands in the professional world. One of these is PBL (Project Based Learning) which differs from any other traditional methodology. It focuses on students, promotes cooperation with the aim of addressing challenges that apply to existing scenarios. Students through active investigation of problems acquire knowledge and develop skills - such as that of critical thinking - working for a long period of time in order to answer an authentic and complex question - challenge (Dewey, 1997· Buck Institute of Education, 201· Larmer et al., 2015). The paper will initially present the theoretical background of the PBL approach and then two examples of its use in the teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language (L2/FL) which contribute to the development of critical thinking of pupils and/or students.
