Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical investigation of the effects of the third-order nonlinearity on the nonlinear phase shift induced by a cascaded second-order process in optical fibres. We show that the third-order nonlinearity has some interesting effects on the nonlinear phase shift which could be useful in optical switching.
