Abstract
This article involves an overview of Australian legislation concerned with parental responsibility and shared parenting. It highlights important moments of reform within the recent past of the Australian Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), including those aimed at addressing family violence. The paper considers that there has by now (2019) been a long line of enquiries and suggestions for reform, but that it is uncertain that the current government will follow up on these within the near future.
