Abstract
The present summary contains the results of the second season of archaeological explorations of the Bribir Rotunda and the architectural structures surrounding it. The campaign resulted in the partial definition of the central building (rotunda) and surrounding structures. The discovery of the architrave dated to the Early Middle Ages as well as the inscription mentioning a Croatian duke dates one of the phases of the rotunda to the Early Middle Ages when the rotunda probably had an altar screen and stone portal reused from the sarcophagus. The original function of the rotunda church is still unknown. The consolidation and conservation of the excavated architectural structures has led to their partial interpretation and presentation. The processing and chemical analysis of the material has further enabled the dating of certain elements of the complex. This excavation was carried out within the framework of the project Varvaria/Breberium/Bribir.
