6-benzylaminopurine and its glycosides as naturally occurring cytokinins

Abstract

Primary crown gall tumours induced on stems on tomato plants by Agrobacterium tumefaciens yielded extracts with pronounced cytokinin activity. By mass spectrometry and other methods, 6-benzylaminopurine and its 9-β-ribofuranoside were identified as cytokinins in the extracts which also contained a 9-hexoside of 6-benzylaminopurine.
