Abstract

A compact 1×2 millimeter wave (mm-Wave) antenna array for 5G communication is presented in this work. The antenna is impedance matched over frequency range of 24-28 GHz. The design employs a low-loss Rogers RT 5880 laminate having 0.508 mm thickness. The bird-shaped metallic patch is etched on the substrate top-layer and is accompanied by a partial ground plane at rear-side of the miniaturized laminate. The design has an overall size of 15 ×15.5×0.508 mm2. The antenna array reflection coefficient is below -10 dB and covers the whole mm-Wave band. The peak gain of 1×2 elements antenna array is 7 dBi. The antenna array configuration can be employed for the 5G mm-Wave communication.
