Abstract
A compact slotted-slit-microstrip patch antenna is studied for circular polarized (CP) radiation. Two unequal circular-shaped slots along one of the diagonal axes and four slits along the orthogonal axes are cut on the square patch radiator for CP radiation and compact antenna size. The antenna is designed for ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) handheld reader applications. The measured 5.0 MHz bandwidth for 3-dB axial ratio (AR) and 12.0 MHz bandwidth for VSWR of 2.0 are achieved. The overall size of the antenna is 0.273λ 0×0.273λ 0×0.0139λ 0 at 910 MHz.
