Abstract

This paper and accompanying demonstration describe and demonstrate the use of metadata and accompanying prototype tools for intelligent creation of Learning Digital Items. The metadata and tools have been developed as a part of the Smart Learning Design Framework project, and are aimed at providing a framework flexible delivery of Learning Digital Items using the MPEG-21 standard. The technical issues solved in development of the metadata and tools are OF described, and the software demonstration is used to highlight the advantages of an pedagogy application driven approach to learning object software design over a traditional metadata driven approach.
