Abstract
Two hollow cathode He-Cd lasers were frequency locked to a gain maximum at 537 nm and the beat between the 537 nm radiations was observed. The experiment was then repeated at 533 nm. The Allan variance of the beat was determined over 1 s, 10 s and 100 s intervals and was found to range from 1.8 MHz to 8.7 MHz for periods up to 25 minutes. This represents a frequency stability of a few parts in 108 for each laser.
