Abstract

A constant-gain ultra-wideband semi-circular disc monopole with a quasi-planar surface-mounted short TEM horn and a semi-circular reflector is proposed. The total length of the antenna is only 70 mm i.e. nearly 0. 67 λ at 2.86 GHz. The gain of the antenna is nearly constant: 6.5 ± 1.1 dBi from 2.86 GHz to 15 GHz, and 6.5 ± 0.7 dBi from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz,. It has broad azimuth pattern and its compact integrated configuration is suitable for several ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless and radar applications.
