Abstract

A novel topology and its control scheme of an improved performance resonant rectifier has been presented in this paper. The topology has the advantage of operating in the lagging power factor mode throughout the entire range of input voltage and or load variation, dispensing with the need of a device snubber. Only two active switches have been required because of the half-bridge configuration. The converter has been analyzed to find the nature of the input current waveform. A laboratory prototype has been fabricated and the proposed control scheme has been realized. Experimental waveforms show the excellent improvement of the converter input current.
