Abstract
A discussion of various statistical and methodical procedures is followed by a description of means by which a previously relatively clumsy numerical search can be streamlined, and the proposed technique is used to reanalyse data from Turkington & Harper (1979). The reanalysis radically alters the patterns of interspecific associations but in neither case does it affect the general ecological conclusions previously reported. -from Author
