A responsible power? China and the UN peacekeeping regime

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

China is involved in peacekeeping at the UN on multiple levels: as a delegate in discussions on peacekeeping affairs of the day; as a permanent member of the Security Council, shaping resolutions and mandating peacekeeping missions; as a financial contributor to the peacekeeping budget; and as a troop and police contributor, deploying an array of personnel to peacekeeping missions. By going beyond its initially minimalist involvement to more active engagement in the UN peacekeeping regime, China has demonstrated a more holistic commitment to peacekeeping.
