    Abstract

A chance meeting with a former colleague, Cecilia Albin, at a conference in the UK in the early 2000s led to a 15-year project on justice. At the time, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry had created a unit to encourage research on peace processes. The first study in this stream of research concentrated on distributive or outcome justice (DJ). In order to evaluate hypotheses about the relationship between DJ and the implementation of agreements, we needed a data set. The second study focused on procedural or process justice (PJ). Using the same data set, we extended the earlier results on DJ. Specifically, we found that the equal outcomes were encouraged by PJ in the negotiation process. The largest study in this research stream, sponsored by the Swedish Research Council, was an analysis of a 50-case data set on peace agreements and durable peace.
