    Abstract

This paper presents a very simple, dual-polarized, dual-band, high-directivity electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) resonator antenna. Its EBG superstrate consists of two TMM10 all-dielectric (unprinted) slabs with similar thickness and permittivity. This EBG structure supports two orthogonal linear polarizations when used as the antenna superstrate, and enhances the directivity of a microstrip patch antenna in two discrete frequency bands. Computed radiation patterns confirm the concept of this simple dual-polarized antenna that also has a high directivity and good isolation between dual ports.
