Abstract

Operation of a pulsed copper halide laser excited by transverse discharge and with an active volume of 250 cm3 is reported. Total laser output pulse energies (at λ5106 and 5782 Å combined) of 2.5 mJ per pulse and peak powers exceeding 100 kW have been achieved in the double-pulse mode with CuBr as the lasant.
