Abstract

An antenna array suitable for use in channel sounding trials for cellular communications systems, and more generally for smart antennas applications, has been designed and built. Due to its main application, the antenna has the particular requirement of having a good performance over a wide angle of operation, so that elements with a wide beamwidth (120° or better) must be used for both polarizations. These characteristics, together with the consequent design of non-conventional types of radiating elements, are essentially the novelty of this antenna.
