    Abstract

A novel and rigorous method to treat the spectral characteristics of a Shielded Microstrip Line (SML) with perfectly conducting walls is devel- oped. It relies on the general ideas of the Method of Regularisation (MoR) that has proved effective for wave scattering problems from structures with cavities and edges. For the SML, this method leads to a new format of equations from which a fast converging algorithm is constructed. In contrast to conventional approaches to finding the propagation constant in the SML, no diculties are encountered because the final format of the matrix equation is well-conditioned and easily amenable to numerical treatment.
