Abstract

The book examines the context of elderly people's lives as shaped by provision of services and facilities, including living arrangements and housing. The first two chapters deal with issues and research in ageing in the regions. There are then 11 chapters which consist of country studies (with two on Hong Kong). These studies focus on sources of services, provision and care for elderly people, and on the strengths and weaknesses in the systems that underpin such provision. Demographic data is only briefly summarised. All papers are abstracted separately.
