Abstract

In the present paper an estimate of the sum [formula omitted] containing a multiplicative character x modulo q = p^aequal to an a power of a fixed prime number p, is obtained. The estimate is non-trivial for all P = q^e with arbitrary ε > 0, and it generalizes a series of the estimates known before.
