Abstract

This pocket-sized guide consists of a descriptive account (140 pp) of the geology of this classic area, followed by details of 22 excursions (122 pp) well-illustrated by sketch-maps etc., and appendices with glossaries of petrological terms and of place names (with grid references). The emphasis is on the Tertiary igneous complex, but excursions include the metamorphic rocks, thrust sheets and sediments on the Sleat Peninsula and the Jurassic sediments of the Broadford area and of Staffin Bay.-R.A.H.
