Jazz at Alter Ego, 2 July 2019: For this performance, the Andrew Robson Trio is joined by two very special guests: Sandy Evans and bassist Lloyd Swanton (who replaces Steve Elphick for this performance).The collective history of these four musicians spans some of the most celebrated jazz groups Australia has produced: Robson (Orszaczky/Mike Nock/Ten Part Invention/Mara), Evans (Women & Children First/Clarion Fracture Zone/The catholics/Ten Part Invention), Swanton (The Necks/Bernie McGann Trio/The Benders/The catholics), Stuart (Orszaczky/Barney McAll/Vince Jones/Phil Treloar).In addition to some new interpretations of tunes from Robson’s trio book, the long shared history of these four musicians will see them reach back to some earlier repertoire, to music first performed during the heady days of Sydney’s jazz scene at venues like Jenny’s Wine Bar, The Paradise, The Harbourside Brasserie and the Strawberry Hills Hotel.
