    Abstract

    Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health conditions affecting children. Childhood anxiety disorders often persist into adolescence and adulthood, and are associated with significant impairment in academic, social, and family functioning. This entry reviews the clinical presentation of childhood anxiety, epidemiology, and relevant risk factors for developing anxiety in children. It summarizes methods of assessing anxiety in children, along with the most effective treatment options.
