Abstract

A recently calibrated geobarometer based on the solubility of the Ca-Tschermak (Ca-Ts) component in clinopyroxene coexisting with garnet is applied to three representative mantle pyroxenite xenoliths from Valle Guffari tuff-breccia deposits (Hyblean Plateau, south-eastern Sicily). Combination of the barometer with suitable geothermometers plot two samples (UL-d21 and UL-d47) close to garnet-spinel transition in the lherzolite field and the sample UL-c17 close to the transition spinel-garnet in the pyroxenite field.
