Abstract
Using the mathematics of spinors, the Bloch equations (ignoring relaxation) can be expressed as an ordinary differential equation of second order with complex variables. This form of the Bloch equations is more amenable to analytic solution than previous formalisms, and is useful in calculating the magnetization response to various amplitude and/or frequency-modulation excitation functions.
