Abstract
We have developed a technique for the temporal characterisation of weak deep-ultraviolet (DUV) ultrashort laser pulses by combining asynchronous optical sampling with difference-frequency mixing. The intensity profile of picosecond DUV pulses, with peak powers as low as 2.5 W, have been measured accurately with a resolution of 50 fs. The method can be extended to complete amplitude and phase characterisation of few femtosecond laser pulses at DUV wavelengths.
