Abstract
Atia is best known as the mother of the man who would become known as Caesar Augustus. She was reported to have had significant influence over her son yet was also said to have unsuccessfully tried to dissuade him from his dramatic advent into Roman politics. She died during his first consulship in 43 bce and received a public funeral.
