    Abstract

    This volume contains the annotated transcription in full of the 440-page German manuscript of the 19th Century artist Max Weidenbach who worked on the pioneering scientific Prussian expedition led by Richard Lepsius to document and record the monuments of ancient Egypt (Part 1, pages 15-521). The text of this significant diary is supplemented in Part 2 (pages 525-579) by historical and biographical commentary, extensive indices and a glossary of terms.
