Abstract
The first five decades of Australia-India relations can be best illustrated as one step forward, one step backward. However, at the beginning of the 21st Century and more specifically after 9/11, both countries faced similar challenges in the trade and security domains. Thus, they started to explore beyond the traditional illusions of commonwealth, curry, and cricket, more towards the real issues that complemented common interests.
