    Abstract

The Australian Customs is known to have achieved excellence in providing services in the import-export industry. Its primary focus is protection to the community in terms of security, economy, health and branding of its products outside. Bangladesh Customs on the other hand relies heavily on its revenue and most of the government income (about 55%) come from the customs sources, resulting in the distortion in the economy and loosing importance in other areas of its vital roles. Why is that? The article tries to explore the answer while highlighting the lessons from Australian Customs for Bangladesh.
