    Abstract

    This chapter offers a comprehensive treatment of the initial motivations that shape pre-service English teachers' decision to teach and key developments in identity formation. It also provides and overview of the key models of English teaching that frame English Syllabi in Australia. The chapter includes opportunities for reflection on the process of becoming and English teacher.
