Abstract
In this paper we consider a variety of benchmarks for numerical solutions of transient and ultrawideband scattering problems. We highlight a number of numerical and physical properties that can be used as benchmarks and that are important in the design of a good numerical scheme. We review a class of scattering problems, involving plane-wave excitation, for which a semi-analytic solution may be derived via the method of regularization. We introduce a novel scattering problem, involving dipole excitation, for which a semi-analytic solution may also be derived.
