Abstract

Biological threats to bumblebees are a threat to both the food supply and the biological diversity in Sweden.

Introduced cultivated communities of dark earth bumblebees are of great economic importance for the pollination of, among other things, tomatoes, fruit and berries. However, there is a risk that cultivated introduced bumblebees bring with them new pathogens and parasites and that they compete with Swedish wild bumblebees.

We have conducted a comprehensive study of these threats and report the results in the report. In the project, we have also created the conditions to be able to determine in the long term whether the introduced bumblebees have mixed with Swedish wild bumblebees and created hybrids.

This report is part 2 of a report series. Part 1 is about biological threats
to honeybees.
